June 2025 – End of month round up

6th July 2025

Looking Back on June

June was a milestone month for us. We advertised, interviewed, and successfully appointed a brand-new Project Coordinator who is working in our Tackling Destitution Together (TDT) pilot – one of only five in the UK funded by Trussell. This exciting role aims to explore early interventions that prevent people on Anglesey from falling into poverty and crisis. Welcome, Scott – who starts officially on 1st July.

We’re also thrilled to confirm our registration for the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2025! If selected, we’ll be raising funds for a new Food Bank Hub in Holyhead – a vital step in our long-term vision to tackle poverty across the island.

June Highlights

  • Holyhead Premier Inn launched the month with a food drive that brought in 96 kg of food – thank you!
  • ASDA Llangefni ran a three-day in-store collection, raising 98.8 kg of donations and almost £100 in cash – huge thanks to Sam, the store’s Community Champion, and all the volunteers.
  • A generous £500 donation came from the Christadelphian Outreach Group – these funds will go directly to supporting local families in crisis.
  • Across Anglesey, the public donated an incredible 2,415 kg of food in June – thank you for making a difference.

What’s Been Happening

  • We fulfilled 134 food vouchers this month, providing support for 256 people94 of whom were children.
  • 25 new households turned to the food bank for the first time – a reminder of the growing need.
  • Our schools support programme continued, with 602 kg of fruit and veg delivered for snacks and food clubs.

Key Stats

  • 19% of households needed support due to delays in the benefits system.
  • 8% were waiting in the Universal Credit assessment period.

Stock Movement

  • In:
    2,415 kg food donations
450 kg of food purchased using cash donations
  • Out:
2,698 kg distributed in emergency food parcels

We’re preparing for increased demand over the school summer holidays when many families will feel extra pressure feeding children at home. The rising cost of school uniforms is also a big worry for many parents.

“Negative budgets are the ultimate red line… Like quicksand, it’s hard to get out once you’re in. So many people come to us feeling like they’re living on empty.”
