What’s Been Happening in April & May? Spring has certainly kept us busy here at Anglesey Food Bank, from Easter treats and food drives to exciting new projects and some incredibly generous donations from our local community.
Easter Donations
A huge thank you to everyone who donated Easter eggs this year. Seriously… how expensive were they?! These little extras are added into emergency food parcels for families with children, and we know they bring a little bit of joy during difficult times. Seeing children’s faces light up over something as simple as an Easter egg really does mean a lot.
Community Donations & Food Drives in April:Wylfa and KC Construction: Who just so happened to donate on the very same day and wow… so many Easter eggs! Your generosity helped us add some extra smiles into family food parcels over Easter. Safe to say our office looked a little bit like a chocolate warehouse for a while!
Menai Bridge Food Drive: If you ever spot us in your local stores, please do come and say hello! We absolutely love meeting members of the community and chatting about the work we do.
Tesco Food Drive: Remember the banana hat? 🍌 Honestly, what struck us most during this food drive wasn’t just the amount of food donated, but the generosity from people who had once needed support themselves. So many of you told us that you finally felt in a position to give back. While we want you to know you never have to repay support you’ve received, your kindness and compassion towards others is incredibly moving.
Asda Food Drive: A huge thank you to the wonderful Roy and Heulwen, who dedicate their afternoons and weekends to these drives. Your time, energy, and endless friendliness make such a difference and we’re incredibly grateful for everything you do.
Fitness with Foxy: A massive thank you to Fitness with Foxy for donating an incredible 45.7kg of food! Please follow Fitness with Foxy on Facebook to join her fun and energetic sessions, and keep an eye out for the next FREE fundraising session supporting Anglesey Food Bank. Last time we saw you, we saw you had a leg injury, we hope you’re healing well and back to bossing those workouts again!
Fresh Food & Food Security Project: We’re really excited to begin our new Fresh Food and Food Security Project, working alongside local businesses, growers, allotments, and supporters. Including the Anglesey Potato Company. Increasing the nutritional value and variety of our emergency food parcels is incredibly important to us, and fresh produce can make a huge difference for the families we support. If you ever have excess fresh fruit or vegetables, we would love to hear from you! Whether it’s a regular donation or simply the occasional surplus, we’re very happy to collect. Please help us spread the word and reach more local growers and allotments across Anglesey. And of course, a huge thank you to all our local supermarkets who regularly set aside fresh food for us to collect, your ongoing support means so much.
May Busy Periods: Between the Bank Holidays (4th May & 25th May), half-term holidays, warmer weather, and the Eisteddfod season, it’s certainly been a busy time across the island! As always, your donations and support continue helping us meet increased demand during these periods.

More Incredible Donations in May:
Asda Llangefni: A huge thank you to Asda Llangefni for donating 45kg of food, absolute champions!
Trearddur Bay Under 7’s Football Club & Ysgol Caergeiliog: Thank you to Cooper who joined us for a tour of our foodbank and even helped us pack an emergency food parcel! Great Work! Your kindness and effort at such a young age is amazing to see!
CPD Pentraeth FC: A huge thank you to CPD Pentraeth FC for their incredible support and generosity. Thanks to their donation of £70, along with over 187kg of food and toiletries, we’re able to continue supporting individuals and families across the island who need it most.
Holyhead Baptist Church: And finally, a massive, massive thank you to the lovely sisters from Holyhead Baptist Church for your continued weekly donations. Rain or shine, week after week, you show up to support people facing crisis — and we truly cannot thank you enough for your consistency, kindness, and compassion.
Our Most Needed Items:
Tinned fish
Tinned meats
Toiletries
Pet Food
A Random One… Carrier Bags!
This might sound like an unusual request, but… does anyone have spare carrier bags? Some of our partner agencies collect emergency parcels for people needing immediate support (including individuals fleeing domestic violence or unsafe home environments) and we’re running very low. If you’re able to pop any spare carrier bags into our donation bins, we would be incredibly grateful.
Thank you, as always, for continuing to support Anglesey Food Bank. Whether you donate food, volunteer your time, fundraise, or simply share our posts. Uou are helping people across our community feel supported, cared for, and less alone.
We truly couldn’t do this without you.
